The Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition ensures that Pacific women, girls and non-binary people in all their intersectional diversity advance bodily autonomy and integrity and human rights through the recognition, guarantee and protection of gender justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and rights related to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex characteristics (SOGIESC).

A 2 year initiative (July 2024-June 2026) will strengthen ongoing work of local, national and regional members of the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition. It will ensure multi-year work on comprehensive approaches to sexual and reproductive justice, human rights, health, wellbeing and justice on all territories.
The Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition’s strategic efforts over the next five years (2024-2029) will focus on advancing gender-just community-level SRHR services that are evidence-based, integrated, high-quality, and accessible to all Pacific women, adolescents, girls, transgender and non-binary individuals.
The coalition accompanies grassroots, local, and national groups to strengthen comprehensive SRHR including improved access to contraception, reproductive empowerment and bodily autonomy and integrity. It includes targeted feminist knowledge-sharing, advocacy, funding and access to sexual and reproductive justice in law and in practice. This strengthens all Pacific work for gender justice.

About DIVA for Equality

DIVA for Equality (DIVA) is a feminist CSO based in Nadi, Fiji at the DHIVE Community Centre and with constituency networks and social movement links from local to global. DIVA was established in 2011 in Suva as a collective of local LBTQI+, non-heteronormative feminists with a strong commitment to just and inclusive, grassroots led and informed gender-just social, economic, ecological and climate justice and human rights by and for women and girls, and gender diverse people in all their intersectional diversity, living across Pacific small island/large Ocean states and territories. The work has been funded ad-hoc by feminist funders since 2013.

About the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition

The Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition is a regional movement-building programme that began in 2012 with DIVA for Equality as Convenor. Since 2012, the Coalition has worked to bring together Pacific feminist and women’s rights advocates to strategize on collective ways to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the Pacific in difficult and complex small-island conditions and contexts. FWRM and DIVA for Equality have hosted the coalition at various times over the past 12 years. This is the first significant investment of a government into the SRHR activities of the coalition, except for fundraising through feminist funds.

About the Pacific Feminist Fund

The Pacific Feminist Fund – proudly Pacific, feminist and independent – is based in the Pacific and led by feminists in the region. The Fund delivers swift, responsive and impactful support and advocates transforming the broader funding landscape so that more resources can reach Pacific changemakers at the frontlines allowing Pacific women, girls and people of gender non-conforming Pacific identities in all their diversity, advance their human rights and gender equality achievements in a time of climate crisis.

This Initiative:

Pacific feminist and women human rights defender-led movements for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) received a welcome boost with the announcement of a groundbreaking five-year investment by the New Zealand Government. The NZD$3 million partnership activity is being funded through the Pacific Feminist Fund with support from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The two-year initiative will be implemented by DIVA for Equality (DIVA) as Convenor for the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition with coalition members, and in partnership with the Pacific Feminist Fund.
