DIVA for Equality, a well known Fiji-based feminist Civil Society Organization (CSO) is seeking a qualified and passionate individual to fill the position of Project Officer for a new, groundbreaking regional ‘Pacific Feminist Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Programme’. DIVA for Equality has been actively working on Universal Human Rights, SRHR, SOGIESC, Gender Justice, Socio-Economic Justice, Ecological and Climate Justice for over 12 years, and this is another stage of the work. We will be concentrating on core SRHR, gender justice and SOGIESC social movement support in the Pacific SIDS region, and the growth and health of the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition (growing since 2013).

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Project Officer, Pacific Feminist SRHR will play a crucial role in the implementation of the groundbreaking Pacific Feminist SRHR and Rights Project, funded through Pacific Feminist Fund, by MFAT. Reporting to the DIVA Executive Director (ED) and the Management Collective Member – SRHR, the position will be responsible for coordinating, and implementing activities under the 2 year project. This includes ensuring effective partnership coordination, successful and timely project implementation, and robust Information and Communication, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DIVA IC-MEL). The successful candidate will work closely with national and regional grassroots networks, groups, and Civil Society Organizations, to grow DIVA SRHR programming requirements that have been developed over many years of work from local to global.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

⮚ Project Coordination and Response:

⮚ Contribute to the strategic development of national and regional activities as part of a detailed work plan.

⮚ Ensure timely coordination and delivery of project outputs to a detailed work plan.

⮚ Communicate key messages from projects through DIVA for Equality and project communication channels.

⮚ Partnership Coordination, focus on growth and effectiveness of the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition.

⮚ Liaise and communicate with project partners in a timely and adequate manner.

⮚ Provide timely input and support to DIVA and project partners.

⮚ Ensure delivery of quality outputs from partners for projects.

⮚ Project Implementation including emergent activities, troubleshooting and reporting.

⮚ Draft concept notes, work plans for mobilization, research, advocacy, communications, and campaigns.

⮚ Coordinate implementation of project activities in compliance with work plans and timelines, ensuring high-quality, feminist outputs.

⮚ Some limited advocacy, as part of DIVA SRHR team;

⮚ Information, Communication, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (IC-MEL):

⮚ Regularly monitor project budgets.

⮚ Design and implement project-specific MEL, including collecting data from all activities.

⮚ Contribute to DIVA for Equality’s organizational MEL framework.

⮚ Ensure timely completion of project reports – both narrative and financial.

⮚ Complete any other tasks assigned by the Executive Director and Management Collective Member -SRHR.

⮚ Participate and contribute to DIVA for Equality’s team tasks.

Key Interactions – External: Wider intersectional public, CSOs (Regional), NGOs, Funders,

Marginalised groups, Government, development institutions, etc. Wide communication.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

Qualifications: Passion and work experience in intersectional feminist community-led initiatives, human rights, gender, sexual and reproductive health, and rights, or equivalent.

Preference for some formal training in gender, health and SRHR, but practical NGO experience of at least 4 years is well considered. All SOGIESC encouraged to apply.

 

Experience:

Work experience with a high level of understanding and analysis of relevant issues on gender justice, SRHR and SOGIESC, in the Pacific. Ability to write and communicate plainly and clearly with all, orally and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced, ethical feminist environment in the SRHR team. Minimal advocacy possible in this role as 80% of the role is project-workplan oriented.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:

  • Experience working with women, youth, and marginalized communities in Fiji and Pacific.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Team player and a self-starter with initiative, Kind and ethical. Strong drug-free environment.
  • Experience in working with CSOs and understanding of funder organizational relationships.
  • Computer literate. Especially 365 suite and social media (Facebook and Twitter especially)
  • High level of spoken and written English and excellent communication skills.
  • Strongest commitment to feminist, participatory ways of working.
  • Salary Range: 2 year contract with 3 month compatibility test period. $25-30K FJD gross.
  • Dependent on academic qualifications, skills and work experience. No further benefits, with exceptional feminist work conditions.
  • Based in Nadi, Fiji – no exceptions.
